Every day street merchants in pick-ups gather in the late afternoon light along the desolate, industrial stretch of Tujunga Avenue that borders the John Wells driving range. They lay their wares -grimy car parts, patio furniture, broken computers, unrecognizable bits of machinery- out in stacks and heaps along the sidewalk. They will sell anything they can find, and the buyers come from miles around to see what kind of deals they can make.
